Phoebe Bridgers has said she no longer wants to 'kill her dad' following her song 'Kyoto'.

The singer sat down with Chicken Shop Date’s host Amelia Dimoldenberg, who asked the musician a series of questions - and Bridgers didn't hold back.

In her song 'Kyoto' - which is about her relationship with her father - Bridgers sings about wanting to 'kill' her dad, if he doesn’t 'beat her to it'.

But after discussing it on her chicken date, it seems she no longer feels this way.

When Dimoldenberg asks her if she still wants to 'kill him', she pauses for a few seconds before confirming: "No."

During the chat, Bridgers also speaks about the worst thing she's ever tasted, explaining that it was a combination of cigarette ash and tobacco spit.

“My dad had it in the cup holder in a water bottle and I was a kid and I grabbed it and I chugged it before realising what it was,” she recalls.

During their chicken ship date, Dimoldenberg also asked Bridgers what her mum's best joke about her is.

"She has this whole bit about what love means to her, and then she tells a story about me sending her a photo of my crotch and asking 'is this herpes'?" says Bridgers.

"And she's like, that's what love is, the intimacy to ask me that."

Of course, Dimoldenberg asks if it was herpes, but Bridgers won't say.

She also asks the singer whether she thinks boyfriend Paul Mescal's show Normal People was overrated.

"No," she laughs. "I think it is very appropriately rated."

Amidst rumours that the pair have split, Bridgers was also quizzed about how she gets over heartbreak.

She says: “You just have to do it. You just have to do it, and it’s going to end at some point, but you can’t make it end. That’s my tip.”

Dimoldenberg then asks: “What has heartbreak taught you?”

“I think if I had figured that out, I wouldn’t be making music still," laughs the singer.

Mescal and Bridgers first started dating in 2020 before going official in 2021.

Their relationship stemmed from a Twitter exchange shortly after Normal People aired. After watching the series, Bridgers tweeted: "Finished Normal People and now I’m sad and horny oh wait."

Mescal tweeted back: "I'm officially dead," before Phoebe replied: "Nooo don’t die you're so talented aha."

Neither Mescal nor Bridgers have publicly addressed the split rumours.
