*Heads up: there are some Stranger Things spoilers below, so proceed with caution.*

Noah Schnapp has just responded to people criticising the handling of Will Byers' sexuality in Stranger Things 4.

Look, Stranger Things 4 has come to an end, and we're not quite ready to leave our duvet cave just yet.

While most people, including us, loved how the latest season played out, not everyone was thrilled at the way some topics were handled.

So, a lot of monumental moments happened this season: we said goodbye to Eddie Munson (played by Joseph Quinn) in the most badass way possible; Vecna was defeated; and we full-on ugly cried when Will gave Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard) his painting.

While many took that sweet gesture as a confirmation of Will's feelings for Mike, some wanted the character to more overtly address his sexuality, and they took to Twitter to air their grievances.

POV: The Duffer Bros & Netflix after queerbaiting us by promoting Byler so much on social media, and saying will’s sexuality will be explored in volume 2 but then giving Will 5 minutes of screen time which was used to fix mileven’s relationship. #StrangerThings #Byler #WillByers pic.twitter.com/AkIcdmWXMX

One user said: "The Duffer Bros & Netflix after queerbaiting us by promoting Byler so much on social media, and saying will’s sexuality will be explored in volume 2 but then giving Will 5 minutes of screen time which was used to fix mileven’s relationship."

Mileven is Mike and Eleven, for anyone not familiar with the Stranger Things Twitter spiral.

‘oH mY gOd ThE dUfFeR bRoThErS sAiD iT wOuLd bE rEvEaLeD bUt It WaSn’T’ Oh yeah, because Will looking away from Mike after telling him Eleven needs him doesn’t mean anything? They said it without actually saying it. It was great writing. #StrangerThings #willbyers pic.twitter.com/LP8ixmh7NU

Another said they loved the scene between Will and his brother, Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), but were disappointed he didn't fully open up: "i feel like this should have been will coming out even if jonathon already knew yk. like i loved this scene but… u can tell he wants to vent abt mike."

However, some thought that Will's storyline was handled just right, with one user saying: "oH mY gOd ThE dUfFeR bRoThErS sAiD iT wOuLd bE rEvEaLeD bUt It WaSn’T’ Oh yeah, because Will looking away from Mike after telling him Eleven needs him doesn’t mean anything? They said it without actually saying it. It was great writing."

And Noah himself even weighed in on the debate.

Responding to the discourse on TikTok, Noah said: "First of all, it’s the 80s and the kid is a freshman. Let them slowly develop the plot and when he does come out, it will be really special and real."

Either way, we're hoping that Stranger Things 5 includes more paintings and more focus on our favourite character.
