Tim Burton doesn’t want a sequel or reboot of The Nightmare Before Christmas

Don't mess with the original.

Tim Burton has revealed that he doesn't want to make a sequel to 1993's The Nightmare Before Christmas.

While we're entering into late November, the countdown to Christmas begins.

Aside from hanging up our stockings and finding a star to hang on the top of your tree, we're sure you're currently going through Netflix compiling a list of festive movies to kick off the silly season.

But it's bad news for Tim Burton lovers, as the acclaimed director has revealed he's not interested in a sequel or reboot of his beloved stop-motion animated film.

While speaking to Empire during the 30th anniversary of the publication, the filmmaker said he doesn't want any The Nightmare Before Christmas movies of any kind.

“To me the movie is very important,” he said.

“I’ve done sequels, I’ve done other things, I’ve done reboots, I’ve done all that s**t, right?

"I don’t want that to happen to this. It’s nice that people are maybe interested [in another one], but I’m not.

"I feel like that old guy who owns a little piece of property and won’t sell to the big power-plant that wants to take my land.”

We can appreciate a director who's not merely motivated by the internet and a paycheque. Besides, we still have Wednesday, season two, to look forward to.

While touching upon his Christmas film, the director said that Jack Skellington is one of his favourite characters, adding that he is both 'light and dark'.

“Those are the kinds of things that I love, whether it’s [Edward] Scissorhands or Batman, characters that have that. It represented all those feelings that I had. I was perceived as this dark character, when I didn’t feel that way. So it was a very personal character," he said.

Sometimes, you just don't want to mess with a good thing.
