The Wayans Brothers are reuniting for the latest Scary Movie and 'couldn't be more excited'.

Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans and Keenen Ivory Wayans developed the Scary Movie franchise with Keenan, Marlon and Shawn writing the first two movies, and Marlon and Shawn also starring in them as well.

As well as creating the comedy-slashers together, the trio also worked altogether on 2006 release Little Man, all three acting as writers and producers, with Keenan directing. However, since then, they've yet to creatively club together again - until now.

Marlon took to his Instagram earlier today sharing a photograph of himself with a figure dressed in the iconic Scary Movie outfit standing behind him.

The caption reads: " Last week i said i had a HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT to make well here it is…

"WE’RE BACK!!! After nearly 20 years, the Wayans brothers are finally going to give the fans what they’ve been asking for… a return to the SCARY MOVIE franchise!

"We’re looking forward to having fun on the big screen again."

The Wayans Brothers also confirmed to Deadline they're reuniting for the 'new Scary Movie' and 'couldn't be more excited to be a part of' the film and 'work with each other again'.

"This is a franchise we created more than 20 years ago. We remember people laughing in the aisles and hope to see that happen again," the trio continued. "We look forward to working with Jonathan Glickman and his team at the new Miramax to bring these laughs to theaters, where they belong. It’s a double reunion."

Miramax boss Jonathan Glickman said: "We are thrilled to reunite Scary Movie with the Wayans brothers, the brilliant creators behind the beloved franchise.

"The timing is perfect to bring back the series to the big screen and we’re lucky to have Keenen, Marlon and Shawn’s unique comedic vision bringing it to audiences around the world."

And it's not taken long for Scary Movie fans to flood to social media in excitement.

One Twitter user said: "The world is healing."

"I just know it'll be straight fire," another added.

A third commented: "I was JUST talking to my friend about how it’s definitely about time they make another one of these! So many horror movies have come out since the last scary movie film… so PLENTY of parody potential."

And a fourth resolved: "LFG goo I am sooooo ready for this! Who’s with me?"

Scary Movie 6 is reported as set to begin shooting next year.
