It's been three decades since the original Power Rangers series first graced our TV screens, but some fans of the show are only just noticing that one of its stars is actually missing a finger.

Starring Austin St. John, Thuy Trang, Walter Emmanuel Jones, David Yost, Jason David Frank and Amy Jo Johnson, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers first aired between 1993-1996 and soon became a favorite among fans.

Kids watched as the chosen teens took on all manner of threats to the planet in each episode, and many now-adult fans no doubt were delighted when some of the cast reunited for the 30th anniversary movie, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always, which was released in 2023.

The franchise is still beloved to this day, which is likely why so many people were surprised to learn that they'd never noticed one of the main cast members only had four fingers on one hand.

Admittedly, it's probably not something you'd look out for if you weren't aware, and young viewers were probably much more focused on the cool action scenes than honing in on anyone's hands.

But looking back now, fans are baffled that they never noticed.

The cast member in question is Walter Emmanuel Jones, who played Zack Taylor, aka Black Ranger. His missing finger was pointed out in a Reddit post shared yesterday (October 31), which included a number of pictures of the actor at different ages and read: "So, the Black Ranger was missing his middle finger the entire time! WHO KNEW..."

One person who knew is a YouTuber who goes by the handle Nerdy Over 30, who shared this same info in 2022, and revealed the actor had lost his finger due to an 'unspecified accident' when he was just four years old.

However, the revelation is brand new to a lot of fans, many of who have responded with shock to the post.

"What the hell? Mind blown," one person commented after it was shared on Twitter, as another added: "Wow. That’s the best finger to have though! Poor guy. My entire childhood was a lie."

Jones himself opened up about his missing finger in an interview for the Sharing The Details blog in 2012, when he admitted people were 'fascinated' by his lack of a middle finger when he was growing up.

"Girls wanted to touch it and they would oft-times scream," he said, adding: "I lost it at a young age and I doubt it will ever come back. Yes the rumors are true but I want to reiterate that I lost my finger before 'Power Rangers' and not during or after the show."

So there you have it - your new fact of the day!
