Netflix subscribers cannot get enough of a show dubbed the 'best romantic series ever' as they prepare for the final season to be released.

There's plenty to watch on the popular streaming platform, some telling longer stories than others.

I mean, if you've been recommend a series on Netflix that has just the one season, then you're more likely to give it a watch considering how easy it probably is to get into.

But for a show that has been about for a while and has seven seasons to date, well, that's a hard sell as it can be so difficult to catch up with everyone else who has been watching since day one.

Outlander is one of those that has a mammoth seven series and an eighth on the way, but according to those who are fans of it, it's the 'best romantic series ever'.

"Outlander is the absolute best romantic series I've ever watched!!!" one person penned on Facebook, while a second added: "I'm watching #Outlander on #Netflix and it's just made me cry."

With the first season released back in 2014, the series stars the likes of Caitríona Balfe, Sam Heughan, Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin.

A synopsis of Outlander, as per Rotten Tomatoes, reads: "After serving as a British Army nurse in World War II, Claire Randall is enjoying a second honeymoon in Scotland with husband Frank, an MI6 officer looking forward to a new career as an Oxford historian. Suddenly, Claire is transported to 1743 and into a mysterious world where her freedom and life are threatened.

"To survive, she marries Jamie Fraser, a strapping Scots warrior with a complicated past and a disarming sense of humor.

"A passionate relationship ensues, and Claire is caught between two vastly different men in two inharmonious lives.

"Outlander is adapted from the best-selling books by Diana Gabaldon."
