One of Netflix's most watched series is being called a '10/10' by 'disaster' fans

The Netflix series has been viewed more than 50 million times in just 19 days

Netflix viewers are just now beginning to rave over a mini-series that was viewed over 50 million times in the space of less than 20 days.

Despite being released on the streaming platform in the US on December 12, some people are only just coming across the epic four-part series that some fans are dubbing a '10/10'.

It follows a family who are vacationing on La Palma, one of Spain's popular Canary Islands that a large volcano inhibits - called Cumbre Vieja, with the show being based around its 2021 eruption.

The volcano was spewing lava out of its crater for 85 days, making it the longest to have taken place on the island for more than 300 years.

However, in this disaster series the eruption causes the world's largest tsunami, which is based off a real-life scientific hypothesis of the mountain that a volcanic collapse could cause a mega-tsunami.

The Norwegian family must then rush to the nearby Canary Island of Tenerife, which has its own volcano - Mount Teide, which last erupted back in 1909 and is considered active despite being dormant for over a century.

Anyway, the show stars Anders Baasmo Christiansen, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal (Westworld), Alma Günther, Bernard Storm Lager, Thea Sofie Loch Næss, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (The Meg) and Jorge de Juan in the highly watched series, titled La Palma.

Netflix released data on its most-watched TV shows from July to December, and it ranked sixth on the list with 52 million views in just 19 days - only behind five series that were all released much earlier in the year.

Despite such impressive viewing figures, there are still a whole lot of people who are only just discovering the series.

"I just finished watching this Netflix limited series 'La Palma' and it was so good??? Norwegians really know how to make good tv and movies," one person posted on Twitter.

Another typed: "10/10 Netflix series/movies you should watch."

While a third penned: "I am watching 'La Palma' on Netflix because I have a disaster movie fetish."

However, not everyone was so pleased, as someone posted on Twitter around the time it was released: "We’re boarding a plane to avoid a major catastrophic event and you leave us to go find some bitch you met at the pool?! This girl deserves to die I hate her so muchhhhh."

If you're a fan of the disaster genre and okay with it being English dubbed... this might be for you.
