If you're not quite in the Christmas mood just yet, you may want to try out the new 'eye-opening' Netflix docuseries that's been dubbed as a must-watch.

If you're a subscriber to the popular streaming platform - and let's face it, who's not? - then you'll know it can be difficult to know what to put on.

Scrolling through each category on Netflix and finding something to watch is never easy, so seeing what others are raving about online is always helpful.

The current talk of the town is Bad Surgeon: Love Under Knife, which tells the chilling story of Paolo Macchiarini in a three-part mini-series.

The Italian surgeon embodied a second chance at life through a revolutionary synthetic trachea transplant.

That did not exactly pan out though, as Alexander, who met Macchiarini in 2013, told USA Today: "He fooled his patients very much the same way he fooled me.

"They were convinced that he was the greatest hope of their loved ones surviving. He made them believe that he could help them the way he made me believe that he loved me and that he loved my daughter, and he was going to take care of us for the rest of our lives."

Instead, the Netflix doc states Macchiarini's actions on the operating table left some of his patients dead after he treated them as 'human lab rats'.

An official synopsis for the series reads: "Dr. Paolo Macchiarini is world-famous for his revolutionary stem cell-infused windpipe transplants.

"There’s just one problem: His patients keep dying."

Since its release, many viewers have flocked to social media to share their thoughts.

The docuseries has been called 'eye-opening'.

The majority have taken to the popular 'Netflix Bangers' Facebook page, a place on the internet full of Netflix discussions.

In a post uploaded to the page last week, one user wrote: "This movie was an eye opener. True story."

Meanwhile, another person on X, formerly known as Twitter, penned: "Just watched Bad Surgeon on Netflix and holy s**t, that is an insane and bone-chilling story, that actually happened!!! That dude is a monster."

Someone else added: "Horrifying on so many levels. I really hope the patients' families all get justice for their loved ones."

It's not just fans that are full of praise for the miniseries as Decider's critic Joel Keller penned: "The scope of Paolo Macchiarini’s likes is breathtaking, and Bad Surgeon: Love Under The Knife does a good job of explaining just how he was able to fool so many people."

While Rolling Stone's Chris Vognar wrote: "Perhaps the biggest takeaway here is that when something appears too good to be true, it probably is."

Bad Surgeon: Love Under Knife is streaming on Netflix right now.
