Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan has revealed she felt 'pressure' to film the infamous carriage sex scene for one crucial reason.

The Netflix hit is certainly the talk of the town right now, with seemingly everyone having their say on the popular regency-era drama.

Part one of the third outing of the show sees Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton take centre stage as their friends to lovers pipeline is finally explored.

And to be honest, I think a lot of viewers who have already sank their teeth into all the episodes have only just got over that carriage scene.

In a clip shared by Netflix, the acting pair discuss the scene in which Colin Bridgerton (Newton) announces his love for Penelope Featherington (Coughlan).

The saucy scene concludes with the pair hooking up in the back of a carriage.

“I love that moment ‘cause…,” Newton says before Coughlan adds: "Because he thinks he screwed it up. And then she's in control. He's put himself out there."

Newton then speaks about how the buildup to the scene was 'a lot' while Coughlan shares the pair both felt 'big pressure' while filming the scene.

She explains: "The fans are horny little devils and they used to send us pictures of carriages constantly and carriages rocking.

"So, this has to be both beautiful, touching, romantic and sexy, which is a lot of things."

Coughlan then went on to discuss the pair's kiss in episode two of the new series.

"In her mind after the kiss, it's just she's messed it up completely and she's like, ‘He will never fancy me. He doesn’t fancy me. It's embarrassing. I’m gonna move on,'" she says.

"There's no part of her when he gets in that carriage that thinks anything like this is gonna happen."

Meanwhile, Newton adds: "He's putting himself out there and he could just be rejected and have to get out and walk home."

Coughlan has also opened up about how she felt to go naked for the scene.

She said: "By the end of the day, we were both lying under a blanket, not clothed, just chillin'. We were like, 'This is why nudists do it.'"

Season three part one of Bridgerton is streaming on Netflix now. Part two will hit the platform on June 13.
