Martin Scorsese’s new film Killers of the Flower Moon is ‘nearly four hours long’

Definitely hold off on the large coke.

Martin Scorsese’s new film Killers of the Flower Moon is nearly four hours long.

Take that, The Irishman.

While the legendary director is known for his lengthy features, his new Western crime drama is no exception, clocking nearly a four-hour running time, as per Variety.

Just to put things in perspective, that's almost as long as the extended edition of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

It will definitely warrant a few bathroom breaks - so hold off on that extra large post-mix Coke, will ya?

Based on the best-selling non-fiction novel by journalist David Grann, the film follows the investigation into the countless murders of wealthy Osage people in the 1920s.

The Osage Native Americans became targets of murderers and extortionists after they were awarded legal rights and profited from oil deposits found on their land in Oklahoma.

The story centers around a forgotten chapter in history, where greed and debauchery triumphed as colonials took out the Osage people one by one.

The flick stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, who will reunite on screen after DiCaprio’s film debut in This Boy’s Life.

Jesse Plemons, Lily Gladstone, Tantoo Cardinal, John Lithgow, and Brendan Fraser will also star alongside DiCaprio and De Niro.

This project has been a long time coming, as it’s been in the works for over five years and was repeatedly pushed back due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

But rest assured, even in the face of great adversity; the iconic filmmaker still managed to use this to his benefit.

Scorsese admitted to Empire Magazine in December 2020 that the delayed production allowed him to flesh out every detail.

“I feel as we’re playing with it now, it’s had a layer in, along with the actual main characters, of that sense that everybody is on (the collusion),” Scorsese told the outlet.

“In any event, it’s given us time to read more, and do more with costumes, locations, the structure of the buildings, houses, types of rooms.”

He added that production ultimately benefited from the pandemic, as there were no 'distractions'.

"I turned in on myself. Particularly the first couple of months, when we were locked in our houses, it eliminated a lot of distraction,” he said.

Do I smell another several Oscars for Scorsese?
