Later this month, we’ll see James Cameron and Kate Winslet collaborate for the first time since 1997.

We are, of course, talking about 16 December, when Avatar: The Way of Water finally hits cinemas.

The blockbuster is directed by Cameron and stars Winslet, marking the first time they’ve teamed up for a flick since Titanic - a movie that Cameron has claimed ‘traumatised’ Winslet.

Winslet was only 22 years old when Titanic came out, and according to The Independent, the young actor was taken aback by the ‘scale’ of the production.

Cameron said of Winslet’s involvement: “I think Kate came out of Titanic a bit traumatised by the scale of the production and her responsibility within it.”

However, the world-famous director insisted the pair couldn't wait to team up again, adding: “We’ve both been eager over time to work together again, to see what the other is about at this point in our lives and careers.”

He continued: “She’s very large and in charge on set. You’d swear she was producing the film!”

The Independent also noted that Winslet herself hasn’t held back when sharing her thoughts on Cameron, even revealing she was hesitant about working with him again.

After Titanic’s release, not only did Winslet say to the LA Times that Cameron ‘had a temper’, but even went so far as to add: “You’d have to pay me to work with him again.”

However, speaking recently, Winslet said Cameron is ‘much calmer now’, an observation Cameron himself appears to agree with, with the director admitting he’s ‘a lot more mellow than he once was’... something we can imagine he brought to the table for the highly anticipated Avatar sequel.

The official synopsis for Way of Water reads: "Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) have formed a family and are doing everything to stay together.

"However, they must leave their home and explore the regions of Pandora. When an ancient threat resurfaces, Jake must fight a difficult war against the humans."

Cameron revealed in a recent interview that he’s already started working on the fourth Avatar movie, which isn’t set to hit screens until 2026, with a fifth flick arriving two years later.

He told Variety last month: “We’ve completed most of the first act of Avatar 4 and there were logistical reasons why we needed to do that.”

As for the third instalment, which is rumoured to be called Avatar: The Seed Bearer, we can expect that to land in cinemas next year.
