Fans left confused over Kate Winslet's weird hair in Titanic 25 year anniversary poster

Paramount has shared a new remastered poster as the film prepares to return to theaters to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

The 25th anniversary of Titanic has left the internet confused over Kate Winslet’s hair.

Paramount has shared a new remastered poster for the film ahead of it returning to theaters in 4K 3D to tie in with its 25th anniversary.

But many are doing a double-take as Winslet’s hair looks like two different styles - or perhaps she was going for the Arianna Grande 'half up half down' look.

Regardless, it looks quite bizarre.

One stunned user wrote: “I'm sorry but this looks like one of my early Photoshop assignments.”

Another commented: “There were different people who saw this and APPROVED it. Is she a Gemini or something? #Titanic.”

A third shared: “This is that Parks and Rec episode where Leslie only gets half her head permed.”

While another user noted the poster’s attempt at symbolism: “First of all this is a terrible poster. I think the long hair [was] supposed to be when she was young and with Jack and the short hair is her now. Still not a good poster.”

The film, which came out in 1997 and is based on the real-life story of the sinking of the RMS Titanic, instantly made Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio household names.

James Cameron's epic flick earned more than USD $2 billion (AUD $2.8 billion) at the box office, making it the third highest-grossing film of all time.

It won 11 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.

In a recent interview, Cameron recalled how he had to talk DiCaprio into the role of Jack, as the actor initially thought the idea was ‘boring’.

He told People at the Golden Globes: “I had to really twist his arm to be in the movie. He didn't want to do it. He thought it was boring."

But the actor ultimately accepted the role as Cameron promised it would ‘challenge’ his acting chops.

He added: "You think at any one of those places, if that had really kind of frayed apart, it would have been somebody else, and it wouldn't have been that film.

"And I can't imagine that film without him and without her."
