Good Burger fans are flocking to social media in excitement over the news of a sequel.

The 1997 comedy - based on Nickelodeon sketch All That and starring Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson - grew a cult following despite a mixed response from critics.

And millennials are absolutely overjoyed with the news there's going to be a Good Burger 2 - confirmed on Friday (17 March) on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Mitchell and Thompson are reported as not only reprising their roles but also being creatively involved in the sequel, with production expected to commence in May, as per Comic Book.

The pair have seen the script, and Mitchell told Entertainment Weekly he's 'really excited for people to see it'.

He said: "The script is really amazing. Kenan and I had an amazing time at the table read, and it's been great to figure out all the surprises. We have a lot of surprises in the script that we're excited for people to see.

"We just wanted to make sure that this was a fun watch for everyone who has watched us over the years. I'm really excited to bring this to the world."

Mitchell and Thompson are reprising their roles as Ed and Dexter.

"OMG! I can't wait for Good Burger 2! Kenan and Kel are the best duo ever!" another added.

A third commented: "We just watched (for the 100th time) the first one with the kids.. 'Don't sell me Ed' One of the best movie lines ever."

In a statement, as per Variety, Thompson said: "I can’t believe it’s been a little over 25 years since great customer service was born at Good Burger!

"Being a part of something so many generations of people have come to love has made me so proud and now to be back where it all began working on the sequel is surreal! Love performing with my brother Kel and can’t wait to show the fans what these characters have been up to since we last saw them."

Mitchell added: "Ed is one of those timeless characters that has brought so much joy and laughter to fans, and it’s such a beautiful blessing to still be doing it after all these years. It’s super awesome to come back and continue the stories of Dex, Ed and Good Burger for both the people who grew up watching and their kids."

Good Burger 2 will debut on Paramount+ and is anticipated to be released sometime later this year.
