Elon Musk says he's hired a new female CEO for Twitter

Someone has finally been brave enough to take up the tough gig.

Elon Musk has revealed he has a brand-spanking new CEO of Twitter.

The billionaire who has ruffled feathers with users on the platform will take a backseat approach to running the app.

And here's the most exciting bit: It's a woman.

Yeah the girls, we love to see a strong lady taking charge.

"'My role will transition to being exec chair and CTO (chief technology officer), overseeing product, software and system operations," the SpaceX founder revealed in a tweet.

He didn't identify who our new and mysterious Twitter overlord will be just yet.

But we're waiting with bated breath.

And it would appear everyone is excited at the possibility of a fresh face joining the ranks at Twitter, as stock prices actually jumped two per cent at Tesla, also owned by Musk.

So the curtain call has come for Musk's time as the blue bird's Chief Twit, but at least it has been a wild ride.

Musk certainly left his mark on the social media platform after acquiring the app for an eye watering USD$44 billion on October 28.

He started his tenure at the company by walking in carrying a kitchen sink as a symbolic gesture.

As in the old adage. So he planned to throw everything he had at the blue bird. Everything but the kitchen sink.

Boom-tish.

While we are well and truly here for a dad joke, he immediately began making waves and wreaking havoc.

He nixed the holy grail of the Internet - the sought-after blue tick - and implemented a paid subscription version of Twitter called Twitter Blue that would cost $8 per month.

With that came the new version of the blue tick for all who paid.

Naturally this was taken advantage of immediately as people bought their blue ticks, changed their Twitter names to 'Elon Musk', and chaos ran supreme.

That update came a day after Twitter began laying off thousands of staff.

He took out his proverbial machete and started hacking away at Twitter's staff numbers in order to significantly cut costs.

As a result, Dorsey issued a public apology to staff after Musk's brutal firing spree saw nearly half of the company’s employees laid off.

Musk then had to rehire some of them after letting some of their workforce go 'by mistake'.

What a mess.

Hopefully a woman's touch will steer the ship back onto course.
