Chris Hemsworth Stopped Eating Meat For Natalie Portman Kiss Scenes

Chris Hemsworth Stopped Eating Meat For Natalie Portman Kiss Scenes

Portman said she didn't ask him to do it, but he did anyway because he's 'just a very nice person'

Thor: Love and Thunder star Chris Hemsworth ditched eating meat ahead of his on-screen kiss with vegan co-star Natalie Portman.

The Aussie actor usually chows down on a meaty, protein-packed diet, but knowing that he was set to kiss a vegan he decided to cut out meat entirely for a day.

Portman became a vegetarian when she was just nine years old and has been vegan for more than 10 years. Speaking on Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp, she revealed that she didn’t request that Hemsworth avoid meat before their kiss, but he just took it upon himself because he's ‘a very nice person’.

Praising her thoughtful co-star, Portman said: “He’s really nice.

The Thor: Love and Thunder co-stars shared some intimate moments.

"The day we had a kiss scene, he didn't eat meat that morning because I'm vegan.

“And he eats meat like every half hour. Like, that was so thoughtful. That's not something I'm angry about or care about, but he was just being thoughtful. He's just a very nice person."

The sweet gesture came as a surprise to fellow Thor: Love and Thunder star Tessa Thompson, who added: "I didn't even know he could go without eating meat. He's [usually] just, like, eating bison in the morning. That's so sweet."

Last month, in an equally gushing interview, Hemsworth admitted to feeling in ‘awe’ of Portman’s presence and talent on set.

When asked what it was like seeing Portman in costume as The Mighty Thor for the first time, he told Variety: "A little stab to the ego, but I quickly got over it and I was in awe of everything she had done one and off the screen. I'm such a fan.”

Natalie Portman stars alongside Tessa Thompson.

In spite of her experience in the industry, the preparation needed for Thor: Love and Thunder was altogether different to anything she'd had to do before.

During a recent interview with Variety, Portman claimed she was asked 'to get as big as possible' for the movie.

"It was really fun," she said. "I worked with a trainer, Naomi Pendergast, for, I think it was four months before shooting, and then obviously all the way through filming. We did a lot of weight training and a lot of protein shakes—heavyweight training that I haven't ever done before."

She added: "Of course, I've never really aimed to get bulky. It was very physical, so it was a lot of both agility work and also strength work.”
