If you ever need to test someone's willpower, just give them a secret note and tell them they can't open it for 10 years.

How long do you think you'd be able to last? Maybe a week? A day? Five minutes?

There's no way I'd be able to fight my curiosity for an entire decade, but one YouTuber by the name Cherry Pie Man is clearly a stronger person than me.

In a video shared on YouTube, Cherry Pie Man explained that more than a decade ago, when he was in high school, he received a handwritten note from a friend.

The note was scrawled in blue pen before being folded up to prevent it from being read before it was supposed to be. Then, on the outside of the note, the writer put: "Open on 11:29pm, 11/4/2021."

Already, so many questions are springing to mind. Why 11:29pm specifically? Is the note going to be particularly significant at that particular time?

Why April 11? What's going to happen on that date? What could the note possibly have to say that means it can't be read before then?

What secrets does the note hold? (Newsflare)

A lot of us wouldn't be able to resist having a peek, but not Cherry Pie Man. He waited patiently, throughout the rest of his high school career and beyond, without ever opening the note until finally, 11 April, 2021 rolled around.

So much happened over the course of the previous decade - the entire global lockdown being just one example that springs to mind.

Could the note somehow predict some of these huge events? Was Cherry Pie Man's life about to change forever?

If so, he wanted to share it with the world. Alongside the video of himself opening the note, Cherry Pie Man wrote: "My friend gave me this note in class, and I waited over 10 years! New Zealand time, by the way. I opened it exactly when it was supposed to be opened!"

So, what did the mysterious note from the past say? The note that Cherry Pie Man had clung on to as he grew into adulthood?

It said: "Wassup?"

No, unfortunately I'm not joking.

So it wasn't the profound of life-changing message Cherry Pie Man might have been hoping for, but it probably provided him with a good laugh.

In fact, he revealed that he was actually still friends with the person who wrote the note, and they shared in the moment of opening it up years later.

Viewers on YouTube certainly enjoyed the revelation, with one person commenting: "I'm genuinely so proud of this guy for waiting all of these years just to open a piece of paper."

Another wrote: "It was at this moment that the world came together."

All in all, I'd say it was worth the wait.
