A parent has been slammed online after sharing a photo of their $200 Coles shop on social media.

Everyone's weekly shop is different, we all do enjoy different food and drink after all.

Some people go heavy on the veggies as they stick to their New Year's resolutions, while others have no plan at all and buy whatever takes their fancy.

However, one parent has been mocked online after sharing a photo of his recent shop at the Australian retail giant.

The angry parent took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to slam Australia's prime minister Anthony Albanese, for his recent tax proposals.

On Saturday (27 January), Albanese said his government would soon legislate changes to tax cuts that would see a decrease in benefits to the wealthy, while giving low-income earners more breaks.

All this comes as many Australians battle the cost of living crisis, like many millions across the globe.

"We'll introduce the legislation in coming weeks when parliament resumes," Albanese told reporters over the weekend.

Under the new policy, people earning up to A$135,000 ($88,763) will fall into lower tax brackets from 1 July.

The parent was criticizing the PM's policies.

On top of that, tax breaks for some high-income earners will nearly halve, with those savings going to those on a lower level of income.

Well, such changes have seemingly not impressed one Aussie, as the dad flocked to social media to vent his frustrations.

"$200 at Coles for this. Yep, that tax cut is going to go a long way.... to nowhere, also filled the car, $98. Cheers @AlboMP you liar. #OneTermAlbo. We are now just wallets for governments & corporations to take from," said X user.

The photo of the trolley quickly went viral on X but not for the reason the dad would have been hoping for.

Instead, many social media users commented to criticize the dad for his purchasing decisions.

The viral snap shows a 30-pack of Pepsi cans, pot noodles, Coco Pops, chips, Nutella, steaks and several 600ml soft drink bottles.

On top of that, the shop included some everyday household items such as shampoo.

"You obviously woke up this morning and thought what could you be outraged at today because there’s zero chance that cost you anywhere near $200," one X user suggested.

“Show us the itemised receipt, very doubtful this cost $200,” another asked.

The dad then shared a series of tweets, listing the items and their prices which showed the total coming to A$194.89 ($123.89).

Despite that, many seemed to criticize the parent, as another person penned: "You purchased nothing but junk food, I see why it cost you $200. I spent $175 on Thursday and got fruit and vegetables, three nights of meat, fish and chicken, half a kilo of prawns, six litres of milk, frozen peas and corn, wedges and spring rolls, one raisin loaf and two white."

UNILAD has reached out to Coles for comment.
