Olympic champion turns up at son's school and destroys every single parent in 100m race

It's safe to say the race was not a nail-biter

Do you ever have those moments where you think you're pretty good at something, and then you remember there are actual professionals who can blow you out of the water?

It might be a homecooked meal that you splash all over Instagram, or adding a new weight to your set at the gym - all it takes is a quick trip to a proper restaurant or a look at some of the weightlifting champions to know that you're just another average joe.

Not that there's anything wrong of that, of course, but it can be quite humbling.

One situation that sums this up perfectly took place at a school which was holding a sports day event for the kids, and included a race in which the parents could get involved.

Races like this are usually just meant to be a bit of fun, but there's always one or two people who let their competitive side get the better of them.

But competitive or not, there was only ever going to be one winner at this particular race.

The thing is, one of the competitors just so happened to have multiple Olympics medals in that exact event.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is a Jamaican track and field athlete with three Olympic gold medals, four silver medals, and 10 world champion titles.

She takes part in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay, and she's also a mom to a son named Zyon.

Like many other parents, Shelly-Ann stepped up to the starting line when she attended the sports day at her son's school, but unlike the other parents, she quickly took first place and didn't let go.

Footage from the event, initially filmed by Instagram user Amelia Gordon, shows Shelly-Ann breezing down the 100m track, putting a huge distance between herself and her next closest competitor.

The Olympian later took to Facebook to share a picture of her medal from the event, writing: "I feel like I’ve been waiting all my life for this moment."

Shelly-Ann went on to explain that she initially had 'no intention' of taking part in the race, but she eventually felt she had to step up to bring home the gold for her family.

"As an Olympian, it just didn’t make sense for us to leave without bringing home a single piece of gold so I decided to race," she said.

"We ended up getting two bronze medals, overall 4th place, a participation medal and a first place medal in the women’s parent race to redeem the Pryce family name."

Shelly-Ann added that she was 'so proud' of her son, while viewers couldn't help but joke about her involvement in the race.

"They should have been given a 20 meter head start. Just to make it interesting. Lol," one viewer wrote.

Even if the other parents didn't manage to beat Shelly-Ann, they'll always have the story of taking her on in a race!
