Warning: this article contains graphic footage that some viewers may find distressing.

Seeing your favorite sports teams win is a sense of pure euphoria, and there are many different ways fans can celebrate the occasion.

Whether it be a pint in the pub with your pals after the big game, or going the extra mile and making a night out of that all important victory that puts your team on the right path.

Setting off a firework to mark a victory is certainly a new one on me, however, with one Dodgers fan doing such as he celebrated their World Series MLB victory over the New York Yankees.

I know bonfire night is just around the corner, but this act is truly dangerous, as the LA Dodgers fan discovered first hand.

Viral footage showed a fan, who has since been identified as a 25-year-old man, wearing the No. 22 jersey that had the name 'King' on the back.

The fan could be seen carrying a lit firework on a LA downtown crosswalk, presumably to celebrate his team's 7-6 victory of the Yankees in the World Series final on Thursday (31 October).

However, things quickly went wrong for the supporter as the firework blew up in his hand before he was able to place it on the ground and walk to a safe distance.

The sudden explosion caused a ball of smoke to appear before the fan could be seen once more with blood splattering from his hand.

There was certainly a sense of shock in that part of Los Angeles, with many approaching the man to check on his condition.

But as the viral video revealed, it becomes clear rather quickly the man is in a bad way as blood covered both of his hands.

Pieces of flesh and even his fingers seem to be misplaced.

As many onlookers screamed at what was going on, other bystanders came to the man's aid to help and called 911 for further assistance.

While all of this was going on, the Dodgers fan who had been badly hurt looked down at his hand in utter shock as the extent of his injuries became apparent.

In a statement provided to TMZ, The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed the fan was conscious and alert but had suffered significant hand injuries that were described as 'debilitating'.

The County of Los Angeles Fire Code states that it's illegal to store, manufacture, sell, use, or handle any form of firework without a valid permit in 'unincorporated areas' across Los Angeles.
