Conspiracy theorists think emergency alert that's happening today will turn everyone into zombies

The theory has been spread across social media platforms as the Federal Emergency Management Agency prepares to test its alert system

Are you ready to join the army of the undead? Prepared to feast of human flesh? Well great news, you're about to get turned into a zombie!

I know, I know, it's a lot to take in on a Wednesday, but if people are saying it on the internet, it must be true, right?

We probably don't need to wait until 2pm ET to determine that no, it's definitely not true.

Still, that hasn't stopped some conspiracy theorists touting the claim after it was announced that an emergency alert test would take place today at 2pm today (4 October).

The test is being conducted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Federal Communications Commission and the Puerto Rico Emergency Management Bureau, and is designed to test the effectiveness of the US' Emergency Alert System (EAS).

The EAS is a national public warning system which is commonly used by state and local authorities to deliver important emergency information, such as weather warnings and AMBER alerts.

Anyone with a wireless phone who is within range of a cell tower in the US, Puerto Rico, or Guam should receive the alert, which will feature a message reading: "THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed."

America will not look like this after the emergency alert.

However, according to some internet users, examining the delivery of the message isn't all the test is designed to do.

Get ready, because this conspiracy ticks all the boxes.

It's based on the idea that the vaccines given to tackle Covid-19 contained 'sealed pathogens' designed to be released by an '18 Gigahertz 5G frequency'.

This 'frequency' is apparently set to fire within the emergency test, at which point the pathogens will 'activate' and turn all vaccinated people into zombies.

The theory has been shared across the internet.

The theory was shared by one Telegram user, who wrote: “IS THERE A Zombie Apocalypse activated by 5G towers on the way?!?! FEMA plans on doing a ‘test’ of the EBS on Oct 4 or 11 at 2:22PM. I would turn OFF ALL 5G devices."

Another internet user took to Reddit to claim that their landlord was preparing to turn off the power while the test was carried out, telling the tenants that 'for the vax'd it may even be potentially fatal'.

One landlord claimed the test could be 'fatal'.

Over on X, one claim read: "Turn off your cell phones on October 4th. The EBS is going to "test" the system using 5G. "This will activate the Marburg virus in people who have been vaccinated. And sadly turn some of them into zombies."

There are numerous similar claims floating about online, so I'll break it down for you: at 2pm ET today, the FEMA plans conduct a test of its Emergency Alert System across mobile phones, radio and TV.

That's a fact.

At 2pm today, you will not turn into a zombie - at least not as a result of the alert.

That's also a fact.

Still, with Covid-19 vaccines, 5G, a government agency and an army of the undead, you can't deny this theory was a juicy one.
