A woman has detailed what happened to her during her near death experience.

Dr Mary Neal was an avid kayaker, but her vast amount of experience couldn't have changed the fact she almost lost her life while doing one of her favorite hobbies.

While kayaking in Chile, Mary ended up going over a waterfall and soon found herself 'submerged under eight to 10 feet of water'.

A lot of people would have panicked in such a scary situation, but Mary insisted that she remained calm.

"I didn't panic," she told CBN News. "I set about trying to free me or free the boat but the weight of the water and the force of the current was too great for me to do anything."

Mary then came to terms with the fact that there was a good chance she was going to die, as she proceeded to pray and asked God to for his 'will to be done'.

"The moment I asked that, I was immediately overcome with this very physical sensation of being held and comforted and reassured that everything would be fine." Mary shared.

"I was being held by Christ," she continued. "It took me a long time to say that out loud because, probably like everyone— I mean, even though we talk about not having to earn God's love or work for it, in our hearts we still believe that 'oh we're not good enough'."

She went on to describe this feeling as one of 'the first really beautiful things about my experience'.

After being 'released to the heavens', she was greeted by a group of people 'who had known me and loved me as long as I have existed', adding: "I knew that they were all people who were important in my life story."

Mary also insisted that there was no moment that she was 'alive and then dead'. She said: "I felt conscious then more conscious. Alive and then more alive. I never felt dead."

As she almost neared the end of her life, Mary explained that saw her 'life in review'.

Chatting to Women's World in 2023, the spinal surgeon recalled: "It was the most life-changing part of this entire experience because not only would I re-experience an event from my life in real time, I’d also re-experience it from the perspective of everyone else involved."

Going on to describe what heaven looks like, Mary shared: "Everything was all colors at once, like the Northern Lights."

She also saw a kind of domed structured that was surrounded by thousands of people's souls applauding her arrival.

"It was like the building was built with fibers of love and it was so radiant and so alluring and beautiful," said Mary. "It was iridescent. All I wanted to do was be there.

"But as all of that awe-inspiring love flowed through me, my guides told me it wasn’t my time."
