A DoorDash driver was left in tears when she returned to her car to find an $80 ticket after thinking she'd parked in a free spot.

Trying to find a parking spot can be frustrating at the best of times, but that stress would only be heightened when your earnings actually depend on it.

That's what happened to one DoorDash driver who picked up an order for a customer who worked on the fifth floor of a courthouse, meaning the driver had to park up their car and walk into the building to deliver it and get their money.

In an emotional post on TikTok, the driver explained: "I didn't want to pay to park, because I can't afford to pay to park.

"I was only going to be gone for like four, five minutes, so I found this parking lot, it didn't say anything about paying."

The driver delivered the order, but as she returned to her car she saw what looked to be a security guard standing by her car.

"I sprint across the street, I'm like 'please I was just doing DoorDash, please don't give me a ticket'," the driver recalled.

The DoorDash driver begged the security guard not to give her a ticket.

In spite of her pleas, the TikToker was handed an $80 ticket as she expressed belief the parking lot required a 'pass or something'.

"If you know you work in a f**king building where there's no parking, meet the DoorDash person outside," she continued through her tears.

"Do you know how long it's going to take to make $80? 80 extra dollars through DoorDash. And then she tipped me a dollar."

After the TikToker shared her story, it was picked up by fellow TikTok user @vicoseven, who has gained thousands of followers by responding to viral videos.

Vico said the video 'bothered' him, and asked viewers to share their thoughts on the clip as he asked: "What do you guys think?"

After watching the video, some viewers argued the driver should have paid closer attention to where she was parking as they wrote: "She should have made sure she was in a safe parking spot. How is that anyone’s fault but her own. She just said she didn’t wanna pay."

Another agreed, writing: "Sadly it's her responsibility to find a legal spot. Also if there's no where to park then call the customer."

But other viewers stuck up for the driver, with one person noting that if she explains her story to the judge handling the parking case they may 'understand & discard the ticket'.

Another sympathetic viewer wrote: "If there isn’t free parking They should definitely come down to get their food."
