People went wild when Khaby Lame overtook Charli D'Amelio to become the most followed person on TikTok.

Many thought it was incredible that a bloke living in Italy ripping into viral online 'hacks' was able to climb to the top of the social media influencing throne.

However, there's another TikTokker who is gaining on Khaby's 152 million follower count.

Bella Poarch has managed to rack up close to 100 million followers on the app, which makes her the third most followed person on TikTok.

A large part of her brand is lip syncing along to other songs in a quirky and fun way. She's now also launched her own music career, which she promotes on the app, and she also posts about her day-to-day life.

What's interesting about the influencer and singer is that while she might have fewer followers than Khaby Lame she has nearly the same number of likes.

Lame has attracted 2.5 billion likes on his account, according to Social Blade, while Bella has received 2.2 billion.

Bella has also managed to get all these followers by doing half of what Khaby has done.

Ms Poarch has uploaded only 538 videos since launching her account, while Khaby has posted close to 1,100 clips.

These number pale in comparison to the number two person on the TikTok follower ladder.

Charli D'Amelio has 148 million followers, but she's posted 2,338 videos and has attracted 11.2 billion likes.

That is an outrageous set of digits. That means her average amount of likes per video is close to 4.8 million. Imagine getting that sort of engagement for every piece of content you post.

But Bella has a lot of work ahead of her if she wants the TikTok crown.

She's currently on 92 million followers and her nearest competitor is 56 million away.

D’Amelio had long been the reigning queen of TikTok, joining in 2019 and quickly amassing a vast number of followers with her viral dance routines which mirrored the growth of the site itself.

For a long time her popularity on the site was unmatched, and when she became the first person to hit 100 million followers back in 2020 she responded by sharing a video with the caption 'A HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS HELPED ME REACH 100 MILLION SUPPORTERS!!! AND ANOTHER HUGE THANK YOU TO @tiktok I LOVE EVERY ONE OF YOU!!!'

In the video she said that the achievement was ‘like a dream’, and added: "I can't believe there's 100 million supporters following me right now. That is insane, oh my goodness."

But she was dethroned by Khaby in June earlier this year and now he's pulled well in front.
