Tom Cruise has turned down a major offer from President Donald Trump, according to a new report.
Trump's presidency has left a ripple effect across many sectors, including the entertainment industry.
In May, the former businessman announced his plan to impose a 100 per cent tariff on any films made outside of the US, as he claimed over on his social media platform, Truth Social, that the American movie industry was 'dying a very fast death'.
Of course, being one of the most recognisable Hollywood stars, Cruise was asked for his opinion on the president's plans while promoting Mission: Impossible - Final Reckoning.

However, he quickly dismissed the question, saying: "We'd rather answer questions about the movie. Thanks."
Cruise isn't the only actor to have spoken out about the tariff imposition, but, according to a recent report by The Washington Post, he supposedly decided to turn down the opportunity for an award at an upcoming event, which Trump himself will host.

The Kennedy Centre Honours are an annual awards show that honours the very best in performing arts for their lifetime contributions to American culture.

Trump, who the Centre's Board elected as its new Board Chair in February, announced earlier this week that he'd be hosting the event in December, as well as revealing that he'd had some input on the list of nominees.
Among those chosen were actor Sylvester Stallone, singer Gloria Gaynor, the rock band Kiss, country music star George Strait and singer Michael Crawford, though Trump seemingly wanted Cruise to be honored too.
However, the outlet claims that the Top Gun star declined the offer.
It was reported that the reason was down to 'scheduling conflicts', and representatives for Cruise declined to comment to The Washington Post.

But that's not all, as Trump also announced plans to 'fully renovate' the Kennedy Centre's infrastructure, too.
"We’re going to bring it to a higher level than it ever hit," he said at an appearance in the centre on Wednesday (August 14).
It seems like the president is on a renovation kick, as the White House has announced plans last month to build a 'modernised' ballroom on the East Wing of the Oval Office.

Chief of Staff Susie Wiles said in a statement: "The President and the Trump White House are fully committed to working with the appropriate organisations to preserving the special history of the White House, while building a beautiful ballroom that can be enjoyed by future administrations and generations of Americans to come."
UNILAD has contacted Cruise's representatives for comment.
