The pair confirmed they are separating in a post on Instagram

Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher have confirmed they have filed for divorce.

The pair posted statements to their Instagram stories announcing that they had jointly filed for divorce in 2023.

The statement read: "After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years, we are finally putting our racquets down. In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage.

The pair each posted a statement to Instagram.

"We have always prioritized our privacy, and have been quietly working through this change.

"We forever share in our devotion and love for our children. We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy."

The pair have been in a relationship for more than 20 years and tied the knot 13 years ago.

They first met at a party in Sydney in 2001, several years before they both gained international fame in Borat and Wedding Crashers.

In 2004, three years after they first met, the couple got engaged.

After an engagement lasting some six years, the couple finally tied the knot in 2010. They share three children

Recalling the first time they met in a 2020 interview with The New York Times, Baron Cohen said: "She was hilarious. We were at a very pretentious party, and me and her bonded over taking the mick out of the other people in the party.

"I knew instantly. I don't know if she did."

Fisher also opened up about how keeping their family life private had been important to the pair.

Both Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen posted the announcement to their Instagram stories.

She told The Australian Women's Weekly: "I get nervous talking about it because I feel like, by not having my relationship in the public domain and not having spoken about how we met or really talked about our marriage publicly, it's remained something private and valuable to me.

"But having a shared ability to find humor in the sharpness of life is always going to bring connection. And, otherwise, I just think it's nice to keep some things for yourself."

The pair have not shared any details of why they have decided to end their relationship of more than 20 years in their posts online.

In the post, the pair can be seen posing in tennis outfits, with the message displayed on the left of the image.

They had separated quietly in 2023, and attended the Oscars separately last month.
