Matthew Perry’s final interview included incredible advice for people struggling with addiction.

It's no secret the late Friends star battled his own demons and he's been open about his problems with alcohol and prescription painkillers.

When he was promoting his memoir last year, he offered up some words of wisdom for others in a similar situation.

When asked what his advice would be, the actor began: “I want people to understand that they're not alone that there are other people feeling exactly the way they're feeling.

“That their behavior is not insane, that they have a disease and it's not their fault. There's a very famous line that people don't change. I happen to know that people do change.

“And I see that every day. I see people getting better. I see the lights in their eyes come on and they get through the terrible part of addiction and the detox and are able to live a normal life as long as they do a certain amount of work everyday.”

The interview, which was to promote his new memoir, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, has resurfaced following the actor’s death.

In his memoir, the actor discussed his own personal struggle with addiction, revealing that he spent millions of dollar on his sobriety journey, which included going to rehab 15 times.

TMZ reported Perry was found dead in his Los Angeles home on Saturday (October 28).

The actor was reportedly found dead in his jacuzzi around 4pm.

Police officials said there were no drugs found at the scene, and no foul play is suspected.

His official cause of death is yet to be confirmed.

According to the outlet, emergency services rushed to his Los Angeles home following a call that claimed the actor had gone into cardiac arrest.

Perry was found unconscious by first responders, who were unable to revive him.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Perry’s death is being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department's robbery-homicide detectives.

Following the tragic news of his passing, many have flocked to social media to share touching tributes.

NBC, the network which aired Friends from 1994 to 2004, issued a statement via X.

“We are incredibly saddened by the too soon passing of Matthew Perry. He brought so much joy to hundreds of millions of people around the world with his pitch perfect comedic timing and wry wit. His legacy will live on through countless generations,” it read.

The creators of Friends, Marta Kauffman and David Crane, and executive producer Kevin Bright said that Perry’s death still ‘seems impossible’ in a joint statement.

“He was always the funniest person in the room. More than that, he was the sweetest, with a giving and selfless heart,” they said in part.

“We send all of our love to his family and friends. This truly is The One Where Our Hearts Are Broken.”
