Turns out this Barbie is a good daughter, as Margot Robbie said that she paid off her mum's mortgage with the money she'd earned from her movies.

Robbie is on the top of the world at the moment, with her latest movie, Barbie, topping the global box office and receiving extremely positive reviews from critics and audience members - even debuting with an impressive 88 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

And people are finding more 'reasons to love her' after footage of her speaking sign language with a deaf fan re-emerged online.

But now, the movie star has spoken about how she used her movie earnings to pay off her mom's mortgage as a 60th birthday present.

It doesn't get much more wholesome than that!

Robbie paid off the $490,000 for her mom's house, which is in Southport on the Gold Coast of Australia, back in 2014.

Kessler subsequently told the Gold Coast Bulletin that her 60th birthday had been 'the best birthday ever' in light of the incredibly generous gift.

"It was an amazing thing [that Margot did] but I don’t want to say anything more about it." she said.

"I’m just so proud — we all are. It was definitely the best birthday ever."

She added: "I am immensely proud of her. She is a fine young woman and she is directly focused and she sets goals and achieves them."

At the time, Robbie had starred in 2013's The Wolf of Wall Street, which quickly shot her to stardom.

And the actor recently reflected on the moment in an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, saying: "She’d take money out of the house mortgage, lend me money, so I always knew I got to pay that back.

"And then one day, when I made enough money, I just paid that whole mortgage off completely. I was like, 'Mum, don’t even worry about that mortgage anymore. It doesn’t even exist anymore.'

"Everything I owed my mum, I had it written down.

"Honestly, anyone in my position... you’d do that for your mum."

In 2022, she'd spoken about how her mom had supported her during her early rise to fame.

Speaking to Vanity Fair at the time, she said: "Something was happening in those early stages and it was all pretty awful, and I remember saying to my mum, 'I don’t think I want to do this'.

"And she just looked at me, completely straight-faced, and was like, 'Darling, I think it’s too late not to.' That’s when I realised the only way was forward."

Her latest part as Barbie has received praise from audience members - with many commenting on how 'powerful' it was that the film showed Barbie with cellulite.

Barbie is out in cinemas now.
