Kim Kardashian's 2024 Met Gala outfit has come under fire from social media users.

Not only have people spoken out in concern over the 43-year-old's outfit on the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City yesterday (May 6), but now people are also questioning whether the reality star had a 'wardrobe malfunction' too.

The Kardashian really can't seem to catch a break these days...

It's definitely not been the easiest week for Kardashian. Not only was she savagely booed by the crowd after taking to the stage during the Netflix Is A Joke festival on May 5 for The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady, but she also ending up being roasted by the host over her ex-husband Ye. And now, her appearance at this year's Met Gala is under scrutiny too.

Last night, her take on this year's Met Gala theme - the exhibition theme 'Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion' with the official dress code of the carpet being 'The Garden of Time' - saw her wear a silver, John Galliano corset-style, floor-length dress.

However, the Kardashian didn't just stop there. Instead of just walking out with the silver corset fully on show - it's extremely cinched waist-line stirring up quite the response online - the Skims founder's outfit also consisted of a grey sort of shawl which looked like it could do with spending a bit of time with a fabric shaver.

The clothing item and how contrasting it appeared to the rest of the outfit has left many social media users questioning if Kardashian experienced some some of 'wardrobe malfunction'.

One X user said: "Eating stouffers lasagna in my bed telling my tv why Kim Kardashian didn’t need that sweater at the met gala !!!!"

"The ugly grey sweater is a BAD accessory and it’s pilled too!

Kim Kardashian at the met gala?!? Try the theme next time," another added.

A third commented: "Oh my! Kim Kardashian’s looked gorgeous at the Met Gala… just wondering if she had a wardrobe malfunction…. She could have had something else on the top to cover the problem…. I don’t understand???? Why? She looked in pain!"

"Not Kim Kardashian at the Met Gala giving wardrobe malfunction x next day hair and makeup," a fourth wrote.

And a final said: "Oh Kim Kardashian why ate u holding that top please it ruined the whole dress."

Well, Kim has actually offered an explanation for the outfit addition.

Speaking to Vogue, Kim explained the inspiration behind the outfit was 'the wildest night of my life in a garden and I just ran out and grabbed my boyfriend’s sweater and threw it on and had to get to work. And my hair is all messed up'.

UNILAD has contacted Kim Kardashian's representatives for further comment.
