Doja Cat responds to losing 300,000 followers after she insulted them and said she doesn’t love them

The singer clearly doesn't have any regrets about how she described her followers

Doja Cat has responded to her huge follower exodus after she branded them 'miserable h**s, and it's clear she has no regrets.

The rapper sparked controversy when she came up with the brutal nickname for her followers in a post on Instagram, where she said she didn't 'give a f**k' what they thought when it came to her personal life.

Her bold comments came after some of her followers began to express concerns over rumours that Doja was in a relationship with musician J. Cyrus, prompting the star to block a number of her followers.

Reacting to the speculation about a relationship between the pair, Doja wrote: "I want yall to read this comment and take it as a message. I don't give a f**k what you think about my personal life. I never have and never will give a f**k what you think about me or my personal life goodbye and good riddance miserable h**s haha!”

Doja had already rocked the boat last month when she refused to adhere to a fan's request on Threads and declare her love for her supporters, saying: "I don’t even know y’all."

This, combined with the fact she branded her fans 'miserable h**s', caused a few people to decide they didn't want to see Doja on their feeds any more.

And by a few, I mean more than 300,000, according to data from the website Social Blade.

Don't get me wrong; the 'Say So' singer still has 25.2 million followers on Instagram, so it's hardly like she's shouting into the void now, but the loss was enough for Doja to notice.

That doesn't mean it bothered her, though. In fact, she sees it as an opportunity for a fresh start.

In an Instagram story shared on Wednesday (16 August), she wrote: "Seeing all these people unfollow makes me feel like I’ve defeated a large beast that’s been holding me down for so long and it feels like I can reconnect with the people who really matter and love me for who I am and not for who I was."

"I feel free," Doja added.

The singer's post comes alongside the release of an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, in which Doja expressed belief that fans become too invested in her life without really knowing her.

“My theory is that if someone has never met me in real life, then, subconsciously, I’m not real to them," she said. "So when people become engaged with someone they don’t even know on the internet, they kind of take ownership over that person.

"They think that person belongs to them in some sense.”
