Lizzo says she is working out and looking after her body because she wants to be healthy.

While that might be a simple and easily understandable statement, the singer says it's an important distinction to make.

She uploaded a TikTok where she was responding to creator @tiffriahgrande, who was looking for people who are focusing on health and wellbeing rather than to 'escape fatness'.

“Heavy on the not trying to escape fatness," she said.

    "Heavy f**king on it.

"I just wanted to stitch this to show support to you because this creator specifically said I’m looking for people that I can resonate with. Very, very same.”

Lizzo said when she's on stage doing 90-minute shows she is singing, rapping, doing choreography, playing the flute and hyping up the crowd.

That takes a hell of a lot of energy and endurance and she's been working her backside off to make sure she has the stamina to deliver an electric performance for her fans.

That's why she wants people to know that she isn't exercising and being healthy because of the stigma attached to her weight.

“I think a lot of people see a fat person that way and immediately just assume everything they are doing is trying to be thin,” she says.

“I’m not trying to be thin.

"I don’t ever want to be thin.”

Lizzo knows that her body will go through ups and downs during her mission, but she isn't setting her sights on hitting a certain size or weight.

“Embracing the fact that your body changes, that’s a part of it, and making sure that this [her brain] is what we have the power over," she said.

"Everything I eat, everything I do, every time I move my body, it’s all for this...if this ain’t happy, none of this is happy.”

The 'Truth Hurts' singer was praised in the comments for spreading an inspiring message about body image.

One fan said: "Lizzo the way you talk about health is so transformative and inspiring for me as I recover from an eating disorder. I appreciate you SO MUCH!"

Another added: "I’m not exaggerating when I say that you are one of the most positive influences we have on our society today. You are ALWAYS lifting us up."

A third wrote: "I’m such a fan of how intentional u are with ur words and how u interact with people on this app, you’ve taught me a lot."
