Keanu Reeves Makes Rare Public Appearance With His Girlfriend

Keanu Reeves made a rare public appearance with his artist girlfriend, and once again the internet is here for it. 

The 57-year-old star has been dating Alexandra Grant, 49, for several years, having gone public with their relationship in November 2019. 

While they like to keep their private life, well, private, the pair were pictured looking all loved-up on the red carpet at the 2022 MOCA Gala in Los Angeles over the weekend.

Fans were excited to see them so happy, especially given that Reeves is widely considered to be the nicest guy in Tinseltown.

As said by one Keanu stan on Twitter: "I AM SO HAPPY FOR THEM. He looks so happy, they look happy and amazing together. Keanu Reeves deserves the best.”

“No bc I’m gonna cry, I love Keanu and Alexandra sm,” said another, while a third wrote: “I hope that Keanu Reeves stays this happy forever.”

“They look very happy together,” added a fourth. “Everyone deserves that special one that will make them happy. A once in a lifetime type of love.”

Others were delighted to see Reeves with an age-appropriate partner, something that doesn’t always tend to be the way in Hollywood. 

The couple first met back in 2011 when collaborating on the grown-up picture book series Ode To Happiness and Shadows, which saw Grant provide the visual art while Reeves wrote the poetry.

They worked together once more in 2016 for a book series called Shadows, said to explore ‘the real and symbolic nature of the shadow as image and figure of speech’. 

Back in November 2019, Reeves and Grant appeared on the red carpet at the LACMA Art + Film Gala Presented By Gucci holding hands, and the online community similarly took to social media to share their excitement. 

Shortly after going public, Grant spoke with Vogue about what it was like to suddenly receive so much attention for dating the actor, aka ‘the internet’s boyfriend’. 

“I think every single person I knew called me in the first week of November, and that’s fascinating,” she said. “But the question I’ve been asking in all of this is: ‘What is the opportunity for good?’”

When asked if she’s interested in marriage, the artist said: “Over a glass of wine… I would love to tell you. Love at every level is deeply important to my identity. How’s that for dodging the question? 

“I do not believe that isolation is the way. There is a period of isolation that I do as a painter, but I deeply value the experience of being in relationships.”

As for Reeves, one of the reasons fans get so much joy from seeing him happy – aside from the fact he’s just an all-round nice guy – is due to difficulties he’s faced in the past. 

In 1999, Reeves and his girlfriend Jennifer Syme lost their daughter in the final stages of the pregnancy, and 18 months after that Syme was killed in a car accident.

The Matrix star remains fairly elusive, and is known for being polite and almost shy in interviews.

"I think actors and actresses are maybe a little more private than other celebrities," he told Esquire in 2017. 

"I don't know. I'm a pretty private person. But I don't have anything to tweet, or say, or anything."
