People are in stitches after Jennifer Lawrence appeared to take a swing at Bryan Singer while speaking about male directors having 'hissy fits'.

As part of an appearance at a round table event, Jennifer Lawrence sat down with The Crown stars Claire Foy and Emma Corrin, TILL actor Danielle Deadwyler, Everything Everywhere All at Once star Michelle Yeoh and Michelle Williams from Venom.

The group discussed roles in the film and television industry which have been typically dominated by men, their own experiences on set and how they see roles opening up for those other than men in the future.

Hosted by The Hollywood Reporter, Lawrence took to the opportunity at the 'Actress Roundtable' to speak about what it was like to produce her latest film, Causeway.

"It was so interesting to be on a female-led movie. [...] The schedule made sense, there were no huge fights, if an actor had a personal thing and wanted to leave early [...] we'd put our heads together and go how can we figure this out," Lawrence explains.

"We disagreed. We listened to each other's points of view. Sometimes I was wrong and would learn I was wrong. Sometimes I was right. And it was incredible to not be around toxic masculinity and get a little break from it."

The actor also addressed a stereotype she believes is held in the industry - which made her and the rest of the women she was working with laugh - that women shouldn't be directors because they're 'so emotional'.

Lawrence joked: "I mean I've worked with Bryan Singer.

"I've seen emotional men. I've seen... I mean the biggest hissy fits thrown on set, I've watched a man."

Fans of the Hunger Games star have since flooded to social media howling with laughter over her comments about Singer, who she worked with on X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse.

One said: "Ain't no press tour like a Jennifer Lawrence press tour cause a Jennifer Lawrence press tour don’t give a single f**k."

"Claire Foy’s laugh after Jennifer Lawrence said 'I’ve worked with Bryan Singer' is what will sustain me today," another commented.

A third added: "The way all the women are laughing and giggling I can’t! Get Jlaw on the Real actresses of Hollywood asap! Center star holder in the making."

Lawrence sent all the other guests into fits of laughter.

A final said: "Imagine the conversations that happened when they turned the cameras off."

Lawrence resolved her experiences working with female directors have proven them to be the 'calmest and best decision-makers'.

She said: "I love working with female directors."

UNILAD has contacted Bryan Singer for comment.
