Eddie Murphy agrees to pay ex Mel B huge monthly sum in child support

Murphy was described in court documents as an 'extraordinarily high earner'

Eddie Murphy has agreed to pay his ex Mel B a huge monthly sum in child support for their shared daughter Angel.

In 2007, the former Spice Girl announced that she had given birth to a baby girl, saying that the Coming to America star was the father following a short fling between the pair.

Although he initially denied the unborn child was his during the pregnancy, DNA tests soon cleared that up and revealed he was indeed the dad.

Although there was a battle over money and visitation rights, this has long been resolved, and Murphy has been paying child support for their kid, who is now 15 years old.

Mel B filed a paternity suit back in 2007 to establish that Eddie Murphy is the father to her child.

While he had been paying the singer, real name Melanie Brown, $25,000 a month, court documents seen by the Daily Mail reveal that this was recently increased to $35,000.

The updated agreement outlined on August 17 states the comedian is an 'extraordinarily high earner', and the new sum will be paid up until Angel turns 18.

Per the documents seen by the Daily Mail: "The parties agree that Respondent (Murphy) is an 'extraordinarily high earner'.

"The amount of child support set forth hereinbelow has been calculated based on the reasonable needs of the minor child...

"Commencing October 1, 2021, as and for child support for the benefit of Angel, Respondent shall pay to Petitioner the sum of $35,000 per month.

"Child support shall be payable via wire transfer, and shall be due on the first calendar day of each month."

While Murphy has agreed to also pay Brown's legal fees of $10,000, the documents stipulate that she will cover 'add on' payments such as health insurance and educational expenses.

The outlet went on to explain that the singer initially requested an increase in child support sums in October 2020 due to a 'dramatically reduced' income.

"Until recently, Melanie has been fortunate in her career to sustain a comfortable lifestyle for herself and Angel," the filing said.

Documents state the movie star is set to pay $35,000 a month in child support.

"Unfortunately, Melanie's income has dramatically reduced, such that she must consider modifying child support for the first time."

Murphy has fathered ten children over the years, his most recent being a son named Max, who he had with his current partner Paige Butcher in 2018.

Brown, meanwhile, has three daughters – Angel, Madison and Phoenix, although Angel is the only child she shares with Murphy.
