Despite all this success, she doesn’t even come close to ranking in the list of richest female musicians, with the top 10 all having a net worth of over $400 million.
This leaves fans curious as to why Britney Spears’ net worth is comparatively low.
One reason the pop icon’s net worth is relatively moderate is because she isn’t bringing in as much income as she once was. Spears hasn’t made an album since Glory in 2016 and hasn't toured since 2018; the star has also stopped doing television commercials.
But, the main reason why Britney’s wealth is so low compared to her pop peers comes down to her being put under conservatorship back in 2008 due to mental health reasons.
This meant that all of her career and finances were controlled by her father, Jamie Spears.
During this 13-year period, her whole personal life was restricted, and her financial situation was managed poorly.
Since then Britney has paid millions in legal fees to fight against the life-controlling conservatorship, which was only terminated last year.
