Photobombing is almost expected when you decide to film a TikTok in one of the busiest cities in the world.

However, being photobombed by none other than US Senator, Bernie Sanders, in the middle of Manhattan is certainly far less common.

After stumbling into the frame of a TikTok, it's clear that Sanders was just as baffled as the creators. Check it out:

Ever since TikTok entered our lives back in 2016, there has been a non-stop conveyor belt of viral challenges, trends and dances to come out of the platform.

From your standard day-in-the-life videos all the way through to the controversial black-out challenge - there have definitely been some bizarre content to stem from the social media app.

However, the latest follows a surprise guest appearance of Sanders in a TikTok dance video - with the song 'In Ha Mood' by Ice Spice playing in the background.

The short clip, just five seconds long, has since gone viral for the American senator's hilarious reaction to the accidental cameo.

Sanders accidentally walks straight into the frame of the TikTok.

The TikTok begins showing a young woman dancing next to hotel doorman waving their arms in the air and grooving from side to side.

However, unbeknownst to the dancers, Sanders was walking right towards them in the left corner of the frame the whole time they were filming.

Looking very confused at the situation before him, the politician stopped dead in his tracks before walking into the dancing duo and made a swift turn to walk around them instead.

Throughout the whole ordeal, Sanders' deadpan facial expressions were priceless.

The short video has since amassed over 1.8 million views.

The TikTok creator shared the awkward encounter to her 172.5k followers, captioning the clip: "Nailed it."

The short video has since amassed over 1.8 million views with thousands of people rushing to share their thoughts on the hilarious chance encounter.

One TikTok user wrote: "Now that is a genuinely random video, a Wild Bernie appeared!"

Clearly seemingly a repeat offender of landing himself in peculiar contexts, a second commented: "This is the most Bernie Sanders thing. I love it. This man just always happen to be in those moments."

"Y’all he’s not mad he just has RBF (resting Bernie face)," assured another.

The TikToker was totally clueless about the senator's surprise cameo.

"I feel Bernie’s pain. I’d have the same look on my face," sympathised a fourth, clearly relating to the bemused look on Sanders' face.

"I can’t wait for him to realise he went viral off this," added another.

A final TikTok user noted: "I like how he respectfully went around instead of interrupting the video."

The TikTok creator has since uploaded a series of explanation videos following the viral clip in which she reveals she had no idea that the politician was behind her until she replayed the footage.

She said: "I really wish in the moment I realized who was walking by."

The streets of New York, Ice Spice and Bernie Sanders - talk about a strange crossover.
