However, one game that many gamers will likely be giving a miss this year Skull Island: Rise of Kong, a King Kong video game.

For many, such a title is a dream and one that will bring back a lot of childhood memories from the film.

But according to many, it appears the game has certainly not lived up to its film counterparts, with some even naming it as the 'worst game of the year'.

Skull Island: Rise of Kong was only announced back in July, and is available on PlayStation 5, Playstation 4, Xbox Series X & S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

So certainly a ton of places to be able to sink your teeth into this King Kong adventure, however many who have taken the plunge have instantly regretted so.

Skull Island: Rise of Kong was developed by the gaming studio IguanaBee, a Chilean-based studio who are certainly a smaller player in the gaming industry.

While announcing its release date earlier this year, GameMill, the publisher of the game described Skull Island: Rise of Kong as an “exhilarating, third-person action-adventure game [that] lets you become Kong on a journey of vengeance as you fight to claim your rightful place as King of Skull Island”.

However, for a lot of people it has been anything but, with many flocking to social media to let fellow gamers know their thoughts.

Lord of the Rings: Gollum, which released earlier this year, had been dubbed by many as the 'worst game of the year' though many believe that this new King Kong game surpasses it.

One person on X (formerly known as Twitter) said: "Gollum is going to be the worst game of the year 2023. Rise of Kong: Hold my barrel of beer."

"I take back every bad thing I said about Godzilla PS4.@GameMillEnt King Kong deserves better than whatever this is supposed to be," another penned.

While a third remarked: "Still can't believe the king Kong game exists in the year 2023...how did it ever get released from such a massive franchise. I would love to see videos from that development team making this game, some behind the scenes stuff."
