Cybertruck owner tests 'dangerous' feature after new update and gets 'freaked out' by results

The TikToker tested a software update introduced to address concerns about the trunk on the Cybertruck

A TikToker put their finger on the line by testing out a new 'dangerous' feature on Tesla's Cybertruck.

Since Tesla finally released its highly anticipated - and very expensive - Cybertruck just a few months ago, many proud new owners have taken to social media in recent weeks to carry out the so-called 'carrot test' on their new futuristic vehicles.

This involves placing a carrot into the door of the frunk (that's 'front-trunk') to test the pinch danger after people noticed the sharp edge of the trunk. Check it out:

Cars have had anti-pinch measures built into them for decades to increase the safety around the doors and electric windows.

The devices stop the door or window from closing if it meets resistance, as that might be someone's finger.

Needless to say, without the measure these features might pose quite a danger.

To counter this, cars have these as standard, but it seems that when the Cybertruck went out, this was not installed on the frunk.

When people carried out the 'carrot test', the electric motor closing the door sheared off the carrot like it was nothing at all.

So it doesn't take much imagination to see what that force could do to a finger!

Tesla noticed that many people were raising this concern, and has since released a software update which introduces a 'pinch' measure on the frunk.

So now, in theory at least, the door will not continue on when it meets resistance.

And this is what TikToker @jeremyjudkins2 put to the test.

He may not have risked life, but limb is open for interpretation.

That's because he decided to actually put his finger into the frunk to test the new software update.

The TikToker started with other objects first though.

A banana went into the opening and promisingly the door did not cut through it, but stopped before doing any real damage.

However when he put the tip of a carrot into the door, that did not provide enough resistance to stop the door shutting and the end was chopped off.

But that was seemingly not enough to faze the TikToker, who proceeded to put his index finger square into the door and then close it.

The TikToker quickly winced in pain as the door made contact and continued on, getting his other hand in to push back.

Fortunately he was able to push back against the door, but a big red mark on his finger caused concern about how effective the update would be if it was just a fingertip or a child's finger in the way.

Jeremy added that he had posted the video on Elon Musk's platform and "mentioned the Cybertruck engineers maybe should check it out to make some tweaks."

The lesson seems pretty clear though - when it comes to the Cybertruck, don't put your junk in the frunk.
