Following a meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Donald Trump had a brutal criticism of Russia and their efforts in Ukraine, something Russia hasn’t taken to kindly.
Trump had what appeared to be a progressive meeting with Ukrainian leader Zelenskyy at the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday (September 23).
After the meeting, the POTUS took to Truth Social and criticized Russia's military efforts in the conflict with Ukraine as well as Vladimir Putin.
Trump also appeared to back track on his previous suggestions that Ukraine should be open to losing land to Russia to end the conflict.

He wrote: "After getting to know and fully understand the Ukraine/Russia Military and Economic situation and, after seeing the Economic trouble it is causing Russia, I think Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form.

"With time, patience, and the financial support of Europe and, in particular, NATO, the original Borders from where this War started, is very much an option. Why not? Russia has been fighting aimlessly for three and a half years a War that should have taken a Real Military Power less than a week to win. This is not distinguishing Russia. In fact, it is very much making them look like 'a paper tiger'."
Trump went on to say that Russia’s economy and Putin himself were in 'big economic trouble'. He also said the US would continue to supply NATO with weapons for 'to do what they want with them'.

According to a Sky News report, the Kremlin has now issued a response to Trump’s comments.

They argued that this idea that Ukraine can retake lands occupied by Russian troops is 'deeply mistaken'.
The Kremlin added that the conflict was 'not an aimless war' and noted that Russia’s relations with the US were moving much slower than it had hoped.

Russia also argued that Trump is a businessman trying to get the world to buy American oil and gas at a higher price but also praised him for attempts to end the conflict.
The Kremlin also took particular issue with the 'paper tiger' comment and the spokesperson for Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov specifically addressed this.
He said: "[Russia] is not a tiger but a bear. Russia is associated with a bear, there are no paper bears."
