Eagle-eyed election viewers have pointed out the awkward moment Kamala Harris 'spoke on the phone' with a voter this week.

As voters headed to the polls on Tuesday (5 November), the vice president could be seen talking into her phone, but viewers watching the moment on TV saw something unusual about the clip.

The vice president had been at a phone bank in Washington on Tuesday - hosted by the Democratic National Committee - when viewers accused her of 'staging' a phone call.

Harris appears to be on the phone, asking: "Have you voted already?"

She then adds: "You did? Thank you!"

But viewers pointed out that when Harris turned the phone around, it was on the camera app.

One wrote: "What... she's face-timing next to her cheek or is she pretending to be on the line with someone who's not there?"

While another said: "Wow…she wasn’t even on a call."

And a third added: "Can't make it up."

However, others pointed out that it is possible to be on a phone call and have apps open at the same time.

"I too open my camera app to talk on the phone. Doesn't everyone?" asked one.

While another commented: "When in camera mode, if you answer a call it goes to camera mode away from your face, but return to black screen when back to your ear. Just like video shows. Call was real."

This comes as former president Donald Trump appears to be on track to return to the White House after he triumphed across the country on Tuesday night.

Shortly after news broke that the Republicans were projected to win Pennsylvania, Trump took to the stage at his campaign's HQ in West Palm Beach, Florida.

He said he had 'made history' after being projected to win the battleground states of North Carolina, Georgia, and Pennsylvania.

"Every single day I will be fighting for you, with every single breath in my body. I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe and prosperous America that children deserve," Trump said.

"And that you deserve. This will truly be the golden age for America."

The Republicans haven't been announced as winners just yet as the presidential race has yet to be called.

"They were tough races... the number of victories in the Senate was absolutely incredible," he added.

"It also looks like we'll be keeping control of the House of Representatives."

Harris has yet to address voters, but according to her campaign co-chair, Cedric Richmond, she will be appearing at the Howard University campus to address her supporters on Wednesday.

“We still have votes to count,” said Richmond.

“We will continue overnight to fight to make sure that every vote is counted, that every voice has spoken.”
