Christmas time is usually filled with presents, candy canes and Christmas cookies, and usually snuggling up to watch a movie with the family. Maybe The Grinch? Yeah, The Grinch is a favourite.

Except imagine the Grinch was laughing at you and having a dance while you were getting arrested on this festive holiday. Bit of a plot twist.

That’s what Florida mother Shana Hudson experienced when she was arrested and carted off by police after being accused of filing a false police report.

The 39-year-old appeared on TV weeks ago, sharing a story of how a burglar managed to break into her house and steal her children’s Christmas presents, begging for them to be returned while concerned neighbours rallied behind her and the donations poured in.

Shana Hudson has been accused of telling fibs.

Then police were suspicious after an anonymous tip made them aware that she may have been lying about the whereabouts of the presents, so Florida Police conducted a search and eventually found the presents hidden at a relative's house.

In footage shared by the Sheriff's Office, Hudson can be seen being marched away to the sheriff's van by police with her head down and you can see a man dressed in the signature Grinch suit made into a classic by Jim Carrey.

The imp-like menace is clearly making the most of his opportunity, mocking the woman while doing a pretty good impression overall.

The LCSO posted the video of the humiliating arrest, with the caption: “Riiiing Riiiing… Hey Shana, Who-ville Called, they want their Grinch back.”

Sheriff Carmine Marceno condemned Hudson’s alleged fraud and touted the Christmas-themed arrest, making his feelings clear on the matter.

“This pathetic behavior is unacceptable, especially given the circumstances this holiday season,” he said in a statement. “This woman took advantage of the system and is now paying the price for her selfish choices."

“This Grinch will have plenty of time to think twice about stealing Christmas,” the sheriff’s office said. “We think it’s safe to say, everyone in this county ‘hates, double hates, loathes’ a liar."

Hudson was booked into the Marceno Motel for her charge 'where we hope the accomodations will be much better than her heart this Christmas', the police added added.

Hudson was booked at the county prison and charged with making a fraud-false report to law enforcement.

The video has naturally made the rounds across social media, with one user commenting: "So wait, the Grinch didn’t actually steal Christmas, didn’t happen."
