A former DoorDash employee has shared the alarming story of why she quit delivery work because it 'scared the s**t out of her'.

If you've seen the story of the food delivery driver who defecated on a customers kitchen floor, you probably think it can't get worse. And it terms of making you wince, it can't.

But when it comes to safety in the job, one TikToker took to the platform to tell of the potential dangers she experienced.

User @tessa420 posted her story to the platform in a video that's now received over half a million 'likes' from people who were gripped by her cautionary tale.

She said in the now-viral video that the main reason she quit delivering food was the 'lack of safety'.

Believe it or not, men worryingly starting posing as women by changing their names on the app.

She explained: "Men would change their names to women's and use that to their advantage, that's why I quit dashing because it scared the s**t out of me. It became a safety concern."

She shared that during the last three months she was working for DoorDash, she bought a male friend along with her as she felt uneasy working alone.

Tessa then went on to describe the 'weird stories' she's experienced to her followers, each one driving her to quit the job.

She shared the first time she felt uneasy delivering an order to a customer, saying: "One customer was an 80 year old woman who said she had COVID, so needed me to bring her food to her door, no big deal."

"On the way up I got a weird feeling. Call it God, call it fate, but it just didn't feel right. My gut said 'do not text that person until you are safely in your car'.

"I was lucky I did that, because the second I hit 'submit' the 80 year old woman's door opened and a 6'3 man came out and started looking for my car, and only backed off when he seen i was in a car with my male friend."

Although this rocked Tessa (as it would anyone!) she carried on with the job, still taking her male friend with her, until she reached her 'final straw' that made her quit.

She explained her breaking point, saying: "A girl named Katie had broken her leg and lived in a 15 floor building, obviously she needed me to bring it up to her because hello? Broken leg?!'

"I took my same male friend with me and I hit the peephole of the door a little before he did.

"The door opened and it was three grown a** 34 year old's behind the door, and freaked when they saw i was with a dude, they even forgot about the food...."

DoorDash was contacted by UNILAD for comment.

Stay safe and keep your wits about you, delivery drivers!
