People have a sad theory as to why Donald Trump appeared to be walking in an unusual way ahead of meeting Vladimir Putin.

The POTUS held talks with Putin in Alaska on August 15 in the hopes of reaching a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine after more than three years of conflict.

While 'progress' was reportedly made at the historic meeting, Trump failed to detail what the pair discussed. He did confirm that a deal wasn't agreed to, however.

But more details have emerged after papers were left at an Alaskan hotel that had US State Department markings on them.

The documents have been obtained by NPR which seemingly detailed Putin and Trump's schedule on Friday and which rooms they were meeting in and what time.

Another page reportedly showed the luxury lunch menu the two heads of state had, which consisted of a four-course meal.

Away from the meeting itself, people spotted that the president seemed to walk in a strange manner once he'd exited Air Force One.

In videos from several media outlets, Trump was seen walking along a red carpet and seemingly zig-zagging his way along instead of simply walking in a straight line.

In light of the attempt on Trump's life last year, people think he was walking in an unusual way as it makes it more difficult for a shooter to target him.

Someone suggested on Twitter: "SURVIVAL: Just last year Trump was shot by an assassin and narrowly escaped a second attempt on his life two months later. The zig-zag pattern is the very best way to frustrate an assassin’s bullet."

Echoing similar sentiments, a different person said: "As a Fortnite professional I can tell you he is avoiding potential sniper fire."

Another pointed out: "Likely targets of long range snipers are often directed to walk in a zig zag pattern to decrease the effectiveness of future attacks."

Others on social media thought that the president might have been walking in an unusual way as a result of his recent chronic venous insufficiency diagnosis, which causes swelling in a person's lower legs and ankles.

Cleveland Clinic states that the condition occurs when your leg veins become damaged and can’t work as they should.

This can affect the way someone walks, says Miami Vein & Wellness.

Its website explains: "If you have CVI, your ankles may swell and your calves may feel tight. Your legs may also feel heavy, tired, restless, or achy. You may feel pain while walking or shortly after stopping."
