President Donald Trump has been diagnosed with a vein condition.

The White House's physician has revealed that the 79-year-old received a chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) diagnosis, which has sparked health concerns for the POTUS.

Cleveland Clinic states that it occurs when your leg veins become damaged and can’t work as they should.

"Normally, valves in your leg veins keep blood flowing back up to your heart. But CVI damages those valves, causing blood to pool in your legs. This increases pressure in your leg veins and causes symptoms like swelling and ulcers," it explains.

It has resulted in swelling being visible in Trump's lower legs close to his ankles.

Speaking at a press conference today (July 17), White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt went into detail about the diagnosis, explaining that the Republican underwent medical tests to examine the swelling to his legs, as well as bruising he sustained to the back of his right hand.

"Importantly, there was no evidence of deep vein thrombosis or arterial disease," Leavitt said, as she read out a message from Trump's physician.

She went on to explain that the president's lab work included bloods being taken, and cardiac tests taken.

"All results were within normal limits," she added.

When she was asked if Trump was in any discomfort from the bruising, she replied that he is in 'excellent health' and hasn't been in pain.

Yes, the bruises have been on full-display for a number of months.

While on his campaign trail last year, eagle-eyed viewers noticed the president had what looked like a nasty yellow bruise on his right hand at various points, which seemingly re-appeared in photographs when he met the French president, Emmanuel Macron, in the Oval Office in February.

Then days later in March, two darker marks were seen on the palm of the same hand, which White House officials brushed off as signs Trump had simply been busy at work.

Then again in April, the dark mark on the back of his hand was seen sprawled across it while he presented an award.

As for how common CVI is, Cleveland Clinic estimate that around one in three adults suffer from varicose veins, while each year one in 50 of those develop chronic venous insufficiency.

"Overall, chronic venous insufficiency affects about 1 in 20 adults," the health care site explains.

So, it sounds like President Trump is going to fare well despite this minor inconvenience.
