President Donald Trump has released new details regarding the Venezuelan military strikes and ‘capture’ of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.
The capital city of Venezuela, Caracas, was struck in the early hours of Saturday by the US military.
Videos showing the military strikes have already started to pop up on social media, and not long after reports of the strikes, Trump took to Truth Social to confirm the US’ involvement and drop another bombshell - that President Maduro had been captured and taken out of the country, along with his wife, Cilia Flores.
In the social media post he wrote: “The United States of America has successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the Country."

Now, speaking to Fox News, Trump has offered more details on the strike, explaining: "We were going to do this four days ago, but the weather was not perfect.

"The weather has to be perfect... all of a sudden it opened up and we said go."
Trump said when President Maduro was captured, he was 'in a house that was more like a fortress than a house' with 'solid steel all around'.
Referring to US soldiers, he added that 'a couple of guys were hit, but they came back, and they're supposed to be in pretty good shape'.
Trump also told Fox News that he watched the capture 'literally like I was watching a television show'.

"If you would've seen the speed, the violence, it was an amazing thing," he said, explaining that the team did 'an incredible job'.
"There's no other country on earth that could do such a manoeuvre."
US Attorney General Pam Bondi has confirmed that both Maduro and Flores have been indicted in the Southern District of New York.
Speaking of Maduro, she said he has been charged with ‘Narco-Terrorism Conspiracy, Cocaine Importation Conspiracy, Possession of Machineguns and Destructive Devices, and Conspiracy to Possess Machineguns and Destructive Devices against the United States’.

Trump explained that he will also have to consider supporting opposition leader Maria Corina Machado in taking over Venezuela.
"They [Venezuela] have a vice president, as you know," he said.
"I don't know what kind of an election that was, but, you know, the election of Maduro was a disgrace."
