Comments about Amanda Bynes made by former Nickelodeon producer Dan Schneider have resurfaced, after Bynes addressed recent speculation about them online.
This week, the She's The Man star has had to clarify that a recent video posted to TikTok claiming that Schneider had gotten her pregnant when she was 13 years old was from a fan account, not one she was officially affiliated with, and that these claims were false.
It came as Schneider was engulfed in a wider controversy concerning allegations about his conduct while working as a producer on Nickelodeon in the 1990s and 2000s.
A 2024 documentary released on Discovery called Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV included interviews with people who had worked on set with Schneider during this period.

In the program, they made allegations of racism, sexism, as well as inappropriate behavior around young members of the cast.
Dan Schneider's previous comments on Amanda Bynes
Taking to his YouTube channel, called DanWarp, last year in the wake of the documentary, Schneider spoke of the controversy about his relationship with Bynes when they worked together.
Speaking with former iCarly cast member BooG!e, who had played T-Bo, Schneider claimed that when she was around 16 or 17 years old, Bynes had said that she wanted to become independent from her parents.
The producer claimed that this was not an unusual thing for a young actor to bring up during that period.

He went on to say that during this process, Bynes had gone to her team to seek advice. This was made up of several people who were connected to her professionally, including her agent, manager, publicist, and her lawyer.
Schneider said that he was one of the people that she had approached, and that although the people she spoke to supported her decision, she was ultimately unsuccessful.
Recalling Bynes being 'in distress'
Another incident that Schneider spoke about saw Bynes reportedly trying to run away from home, recalling that she had contacted him 'in distress' after an argument with her parents.
Schneider said that he had been concerned for Bynes' wellbeing and had contacted someone who could go and help her.

The person that he reached out to had gone and collected Bynes, with Schneider saying he had felt relieved that she was safe, and that she had eventually been taken to the police.
Addressing the allegations
Schneider also addressed the allegations made against him in the doc in his video.
"Watching [the documentary] over the past two nights was very difficult, me facing my past behaviors, some of which are embarrassing and that I regret," he said. "I definitely owe some people a pretty strong apology."
A judge in California ruled in 2024 that Schneider will be able to proceed with a defamation claim against Warner Bros. Discovery and the producers on Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.
