Telemundo Kansas City took to Facebook yesterday (February 6) to write: "We are sorry to share that Adan Manzano, reporter and sports anchor for Telemundo Kansas City passed away yesterday in New Orleans while on assignment to cover the Super Bowl for Telemundo KC and Tico Sports.

"[...] Adam was an exceptional professional and a rising star whose dedication and talent reflected excellence in his work. We will deeply miss Adam, his passion for sports and the contributions he made to the local community. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and loved ones at this difficult time."

The station confirmed it was 'cooperating with authorities as they investigate this tragic event'.

On Thursday (February 6), a woman named Danette Colbert was detained on suspicion of fraud and theft after allegedly using Manzano's credit card.

Kenner Police Chief, Keith Conley, said Colbert was allegedly seen on CCTV footage with Manzano on Wednesday morning at around 4:30am, The New York Times reports.

She was later allegedly seen leaving the reporter's room alone.

Police report Colbert allegedly using Manzano's credit card - that he used to check into his hotel - at multiple stores in the area.

Manzano's credit card and cellphone were allegedly found at Colbert's home after authorities obtained a warrant and searched it.

Colbert has previously pleaded guilty to fraudulently using a credit card in December 2019 and she was given five years probation.

Conley stated drugs were found in Colbert's home alongside a gun however it's not believe 'the firearm is related to this case'.

Conley said: "This brings to light that there are people out there that prey on other people and bring them into their confidence and victimize them. These are the kind of things that can happen if you’re out in any city by yourself."

Manzano's cause of death has still not been determined or publicly released.

UNILAD has contacted Kenner Police Department for comment.
