Experts reveal American hotspot is the 'worst' tourist destination in the world

It's a hugely popular tourist spot, but still ranked very low

A tourist hotspot in the US has been named as among the 'worst' in the world.

When you think of tourist destinations in the US, there are certainly plenty to choose from.

New York City obviously springs to mind, with its plethora of iconic buildings and landmarks, not to mention all the art galleries, museums, and incredible food scene.

If the outdoors is more your thing than a city break, then there's the US national parks, including Yosemite and the Grand Canyon, with astonishing natural beauty.

Or maybe you're more of a beach and sunshine type, in which case Hawaii and Florida both have plenty of options to choose from.

But one iconic tourist hotspot has been rated among the worst not just in America, but in the world.

After analyzing '101 of the world’s most popular attractions' based on 'Google Reviews ratings, TikTok engagement, airport accessibility, country safety, and local accommodation quality', experts at travel company Slasher ranked the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, California, as the 'worst'.

California is a hugely popular tourist destination more broadly, whether you fancy wine tours or want to take in the glitz and glamor of Hollywood.

But if a recent review of the Walk of Fame is anything to go by, all may not be as it seems.

It consists of more than 2,800 stars set into the sidewalks on Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street honoring people for their achievement in film, TV, music, radio, and live performance, as well as other stars for notable figures, like Neil Armstrong.

But analysts at Stasher noted that the Google rating for the attraction is very low, saying: "Located [23 miles] from the LAX airport, this sidewalk of celebrity stars had the lowest Google rating and safety score."

So, what did visitors have to say about the Walk of Fame?

Well, on Tripadvisor it currently has an average of 3.4 stars out of five, and is at number 64 on the 'to-do' list for LA - number one is Universal Studios Hollywood if you were wondering.

One reviewer wrote: "Hollywood Walk of Fame was definitely not what I expected based on TV and movies. The whole area felt unsafe during our visit, and I wouldn’t recommend taking young children."

But another had a more optimistic outlook, writing: "OK, it’s a bit shabby, tacky and touristy, but if you’re a tourist, then why not! We loved looking at all the stars’ names etc. and going in and out of the tourist shops … Done, ticked [it] off the list."

Meanwhile, one person added: "If you’ve never been to Hollywood before, then the Walk of Fame is definitely worth seeing. Famous throughout the years, it’s an iconic piece of Hollywood."

Someone else said: "Don’t expect to see the glamour of Hollywood, as it’s disappointing. The image you have of the Hollywood Walk of Fame is one of stardom and glitz, but the reality is your average city center with expensive gift shops."
