People are thirsting over a balloon at this year's Thanksgiving Day parade

It was all a nice bit of family fun... until Smokey Bear came along.

Thanksgiving is, of course, all about giving thanks - and this year, people in North America are feeling thankful for one sexy a** balloon bear.

Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City featured a star-studded roster of performers, including Dionne Warwick, Gloria Estefan, Sean Paul, and Jimmy Fallon and the Roots. But in many people's eyes, Smokey Bear stole the show.

Check out the hunky bear balloon here:

The parade is known for it's eye-catching floats, and Smokey was no exception in that regard.

The bear has been about for decades, raising awareness about the dangers of wildfires, and at the parade Smokey certainly brought the fire.

The big bear wore nothing but a pair of blue jeans held up with a Smokey belt, which he paired with a Smokey hat.

And to be fair, why would you wear a shirt when you've got pecs like that?

To finish off the look, he wielded a shovel in his left bear paw while waving to the assembled crowds with his right.

Amid all the family-friendly fun, people couldn't help but comment on what Smokey was dong for them.

On Twitter, one admirer wrote: "SINCE WHEN IS SMOKEY BEAR ZADDY BAIT"

Another said: "i feel like they make the smokey bear balloon just a little more zaddy every year"

A third added: "When did Smokey Bear get hot?"

And if you haven't got a clue what 'zaddy' means, you can learn all about that here.

Mariah Carey took centre stage at the parade, closing out the annual ceremony with a special festive performance of her holiday hit 'All I Want for Christmas'.

Other celebrities, including Kim Kardashian and Sir Paul McCartney, also sent their best wishes to fans celebrating the US holiday.

In New York, Carey donned a bejewelled tiara and a flowing red dress, matching it with a red and gold umbrella – and was joined on stage by her 11-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan.

"Happy Thanksgiving!" Carey captioned an Instagram post.

"Grateful and so proud of my beautiful kids Roc and Roe, grateful for the lambily and for the precious moments in life. Now it's reaaaallly time!!!"

Elsewhere, the Jonas Brothers took to the stage to perform at the halftime show of the Thanksgiving Day NFL game between the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys.

Reality star Kardashian, 42, shared photos of a special Friendsgiving dinner with young incarcerated men at Camp Kilpatrick juvenile detention centre in Santa Monica, California.

She said she had spoken to the men about their 'dreams and aspirations' and wished her fans a happy Thanksgiving.
