A Texas cop stopped a potential mass shooting after he 'bum rushed' a man with a rifle.
Sergeant Kendrick Simpo, 41, is being praised for stopping the armed man, who had 120 rounds of ammunition on him at Houston's Galleria mall, in February this year.
Simpo has only just spoken out about his heroic actions.

It was shaping up to be a regular day when Simpo suddenly got a radio call alerting him to an armed man in the area.
He quickly responded to a radio call, accompanied by the mall's security guard, and found the rifle-bearing man near the Macy's entrance of the mall.
Knowing that there were hundreds of children nearby attending a dance competition at the Westin Hotel ballroom, Kendrick kept his gun holstered because he 'didn't want to be running towards the Macy's area' with a weapon, in case he 'startled' anybody.

He proceeded to sneak up on the suspect, who has since been identified as Guido Herrera.
Guido, who was wearing a Punisher shirt, was just a few feet away from the children, as Kendrick snuck up on him.
"I walked by him, and as soon as I passed him — I pushed the security officer out of the way and came up behind him and reached for the rifle."
"I caught him off guard," the brave officer added.

The officer went on to add: "I quickly bum rushed, tackled him. And my first reaction was to make sure that I get a hold of the rifle. No matter what I grabbed, make sure I grabbed that rifle."
"I had in my mind I was going to get shot. I just had to bear the pain, I knew it was going to hurt, and I was like, 'Whatever I do, I cannot let go of this rifle'."
He didn't, and Guido was arrested without a single shot being fired.

When police searched the man they found a bible, a handgun, and 120 rounds of ammunition.
Guido was only charged with a misdemeanour as he never fired a shot and was sentenced to the maximum sentence of one year in prison.
While the ruling seems lax to say the least, Kendrick is continuing to protect his community, saying: "I definitely know what I signed up for 20 years ago when I got into this profession."
The news comes as US police have come under fire for the mishandling of the Uvalde mass shooting.
