OnlyFans is fast becoming a nifty side-hustle for millions of users around the world.
So much so, that one former teacher revealed earlier this month she makes more in a month on OnlyFans than she did in a year at school.
Despite the impressive profits that can come from posting explicit content on the private subscription service, another user was this week plunged into her worst nightmare.
Taila Maddison, an Aussie social media star, had formed a close-knit relationship with one of her online subscribers - someone who had followed her account since she launched it earlier this year.

According to the New York Post, this mystery individual had spent up to $2000 requesting photos of Taila’s underwear daily, and asked to see the intimate relations between her and her boyfriend.
After the OnlyFans subscriber began trying to talk with Taila almost everyday, she received the shock of her life when, one day, she made the startling realisation that realised that it was actually someone in her contacts.
During an appearance on SBS Insights: Sex and Subscribers episode, she insisted that she initially tried to call the anonymous user's bluff: "I went with my gut feeling and I messaged the website account and I said, ‘I know who this is.’"

Taila claimed she went 'mental' trying to discover who it was, narrowing it down to six people.
One of those individuals was her stepfather, who had been in her life since she was 11-years-old.
Ruling out the other five individuals, the content creator then threatened him, telling him he'd "have to tell her [her mother] before my sister and I do".

"Within two minutes, [I] got a text from my stepdad saying, ‘Hey Tai can we talk?’" she recalled.
"I went into a complete state of shock – and I probably was that way for about a week," she said.
Taila then took the decision into her own hands, and with her sister, told her mother what her stepdad had been up to.
The man in question had been pleading with her not to tell her mother just yet, which prompted Taila to put the three of them on a call together - her mother listening silently, whilst her stepdad pleaded with her to stay quiet.

The mother of the social media star rightfully kicked her husband out of the house they'd all shared for over a decade, and Taila hasn't heard from him since.
"For the first couple of weeks, he was very much the bad guy," she explained. "But he then went silent on everybody, or people went silent on him.
"Both my sisters work full-time so [mom] didn’t have anybody around to take it out on because he wasn’t there."

Taila recalls her mother quickly turning the blame around onto her, explaining: "It all became my fault and OnlyFans' fault", and that she was told she'd 'ruined' her mom's marriage.
"I was enemy number one to my family for a few months," she said.
But she concluded the segment by explaining that the pair have been able to move on and Taila’s mother has moved on.
Taila added that no one in the family knows where her former stepfather is.
